Brian “Head” Welch
Originally aired May 29, 2010 “Head” picked up a guitar at the age of 11 and found his original calling. Barely out of high school, he helped found the controversial rock band Korn. The group became a Grammy award winning, multi-platinum selling band, and quickly soared to the top of the music world while selling some 30 million records internationally. They were credited with being the major influence in the rise of the Nu Metal Movement. In February 2005, as a single father, Head shocked the music world when he resigned from Korn to re-dedicate his life to Christ and focus on raising his daughter, Jennea. The event set off a media frenzy as observers around the world sought to understand what led this rock star out of the darkness and into the light. In his memoir, Save Me From Myself, Head talked for the first time about his shocking embrace of God, and the tumultuous decade of drug and alcohol addiction that led him to his faith, where he was completely and instantly healed of his addictions. www.brianheadwelch.net |

J. Lee Grady Originally aired April 17, 2010 Longtime readers of Charisma magazine will recognize some of the past stories and material from J. Lee Grady's Fire in My Bones columns that appear in his latest book. Echoing calls already made in the magazine, Lee urges charismatics to develop discernment and turn away from heresies that have given the movement a bad name. Whether taking prosperity theology to extremes, engaging in adultery or demanding huge honorariums, many leaders have disgraced Christ's name. It isn't just these charlatans-some of whom he names-that Grady rebukes; it's those with "itching ears" who give them platforms. www.themordecaiproject.com |
JourneyOriginally aired June 12, 2010 A few years ago, Drew interviewed Pastor Peter Rigo from Dominion Christian Centre in Hamilton. Peter's ministry was featured on the investigative journalism show W-5 which claimed that he's a controlling and manipulative leader of a cult who has convinced many of his parishioners to abandon their families for the church. Since then, the church has had it's charitable tax status revoked. Cole and Nettie Brown were volunteer leaders at this church, but have since moved on - with God and this thing we call "church." |

Jesse "The Body" Ventura
Originally aired March 20, 2010 In his latest book, American Conspiracies, Jesse Ventura tells it like it is, and this time he tackles the American government’s biggest secrets. In this explosive account of wrongful acts and on-going cover-ups, Jesse takes a systematic look at the wide gap between what the American government knows and what it reveals to the American people. And according to this former Navy SEAL, former pro wrestler, and former Minnesota governor, the media is complicit in these acts of deception. For too long, the mainstream press has refused to consider alternate possibilities and to ask the tough questions. InVentura’s eyes, the murder of Abraham Lincoln and the assassinations of the Kennedy’s and Martin Luther King, all need to be re-examined. Was Watergate presented honestly, or was the CIA involved? Did the Republican Party set out to purposefully steal two elections on behalf of George W. Bush? Has all the evidence been presented about the 9/11 attacks or is there another angle that the media is afraid to explore? And finally, is the collapse of today’s financial order and the bailout plan by the Federal Reserve the widest-reaching conspiracy ever perpetrated? According to Larry King, “If you’re talking outspoken, unconventional, and no-holds-barred, you’re talking Jesse Ventura.” |

Marci McDonaldJournalist and Author of The Armageddon Factor: The Rise Of Christian Nationalism In Canada Originally aired May 22, 2010 In her new book, award-winning journalist Marci McDonald takes a look behind the world of right-wing Christian nationalism in Canada and its ties to the Conservative government of Stephen Harper. To most Canadians, the politics of the United States — where fundamentalist Christians wield tremendous power and culture wars split the country — seem too foreign to ever happen here. But The Armageddon Factor shows that the Canadian Christian right, infuriated by the legalization of same-sex marriage and the increasing secularization of society, has been steadily and stealthily building organizations, alliances and contacts that have put them close to the levers of power and put the government of Canada in their debt. Is there a web of evangelical far-right Christians building think-tanks and foundations that play a prominent role in determining policy for the Conservative government of Canada? The Armageddon Factor claims that the religious right in Canada has influenced the Harper government and has led to important but little-known changes in everything from foreign policy and the makeup of the courts to funding for scientific research and social welfare programs like daycare. www.thearmageddonfactor.com |

Tom DoyleExpert on Catholic Church Sex Abuse Scandals/Cover-up Originally aired March 20, 2010 Twenty five years ago, the Rev. Thomas Doyle warned the Roman Catholic bishops about the church's looming sexual abuse nightmare. They didn’t listen and Father Doyle was quietly removed from his job. A Dominican priest with a doctorate in canon law and five separate master's degrees, Rev. Thomas Patrick Doyle, O.P. sacrificed a rising career at the Vatican Embassy to become an outspoken advocate for church abuse victims. Since 1984, when he became involved with the issue of sexual abuse of children by Catholic clergy while serving at the Embassy, he has become an expert in the canonical and pastoral dimensions of this problem—working directly with victims, their families, accused priests, bishops, and other high-ranking Church officials. Doyle has interviewed 2,000 victims of clerical sexual abuse in the U.S. alone, and has been the only priest to testify in court in over 200 cases as to the legal liability of the Church.
